Benefits and Perks
Medical-Employees have an option of three healthcare plans through CareFirst. Employees and their dependents are eligible to participate. The firm pays 90% of the premium for employees and 30% for dependents in the HSA plan. Employees opting for the HMO or Open Acces plan are responsible for the cost of the premium that exceeds that provided by the firm. For new hires coverage begins on the first of the month following 30 days of full time employment. The employee's portion will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
Dental-The firm offers voluntary dental insurance through United Healthcare. Employees and dependents are eligible to participate effective the first of the month after 30 days of full-time employment. Otherwise, employees may elect coverage during annual open enrollment.
Vision-The firm offers voluntary vision insurance through United Healthcare. Employees and dependents are eligible to participate effective the first of the month after 30 days of full-time employment. Otherwise, employees may elect coverage during annual open enrollment.
Flexible Spending Plan-The firm has instituted a Section 125 Plan. Employees may set aside pre-tax dollars through payroll deduction for qualified healthcare and/or dependent care expenses.
Health Savings Account-The firm will contribute $1,000 per year ($250/quarter) in to your HSA if you participate in a qualified health plan.
Short-Term Disability-Provides added income protection if the employee has an illness or injury not related to work that lasts more than seven consecutive days. The insurance replaces a percentage of base salary income for disabilities up to 13 weeks in duration.
Long-Term Disability-Provides eligible employees with long term disability benefits following a disability longer than 90 days. The benefits equal to 60% (up to $6,000) of monthly pay.
Life Insurance/AD&D-Eligible employees receive coverage at two times their annual base salary up to $200,000.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)-The firm offers an Employee Assistance Program to provide support, guidance and resources to help you and your family resolve personal issues. The programs are completely confidential.
401(k)/Safe Harbor-The firms Retirement Savings Plan allows eligible employees to deposit, on a pre-tax or after-tax basis into plan accounts. Employees 50 and older can contribute additional dollars. Employees may enroll after one year of employment and 1,000 work hours. Plan participants must be at lease 21 years old. The Plan offers participants a wide range of investment options. The firm will contribute 3% of employee's compensation. Employee/employer contributions to this plan are immediately 100% vested.
Profit Sharing-The Plan allows for discretionary employer profit-sharing contributions to be made to the 401(k) Plan. These firm contributions are vested over 6 years. Participants must have worked over 1,000 hours in the calendar year and be at least 21 years old.
CPA Exam Reimbursement/CPA Review Discount-The firm pays for time spend sitting for each section of the CPA exam and the cost of each exam once. In addition, employees are eligible to receive a discount on the Becker CPA Review Course.
CPA Exam Bonus-Entry level accounting/tax staff who pass all four parts of the CPA exam are entitled to a bonus in the amount of $1,000 payable after licensure is received.
Continuing Professional Education (CPE)-The firm schedules in-house programs and provides CPE training at outside programs at the firm's expense.
Professional Dues-The firm pays annual dues for the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Tuition Assistance-The furm supports individuals who wish to continue their eduation in order to attain increased knowledge, responsibility, and growth in their area of specialization. The firm has established a Tuition Assistance progam to assist eligible individuals with tuition costs incurred toward an advanced degree.
Holidays-there are nine scheduled holidays
Paid Time Off-Employees accumulate a total of 20 days a year to use for illness, vacation, etc.
Mentor Program-Employees are assigned a mentor to create a development plan, including both professional and personal goals.
Meals-During busy tax season lunches are provided by the firm on select days.
Flexible Work Schedules-We understand that work/life balance is important to employees. Where possible, employees have flexibility with starting and ending times. Each employee has ownership of their schedules.
Annual Holiday Party/Tax Party-The firm holds an annual holiday party in December and Tax party in April.
Staff Anniversary Celebrations-Employee anniversaries that are milestones (5, 10, 15, 20, 25) are recognized publicly at our annual firm meeting.
